I got my Louet Hi speed flyer in the mail today. It has a ratio of about 21:1. It does a lovely job!! My only gripe was there were no instructions. There is a small whorl (bottom left of pic) that slides onto the shaft of the existing whorl. This needs to be pressed on so it lays flat all the way round. I used a socket wrench to apply the pressure after taking the entire whorl assembly off of the upright of the wheel. The two arms of the flyer are aluminum and have grooves that face toward the bobbin. There are slides that act as the hooks would and 'capture' the yarn against the arm. The yarn is pulled through the bottom of the spindle assembly by means of a hook (bottom middle). This is done where you can see the two dark spots that align with the flyer arms. Next you thread the yarn through the orafice that is a cross between a normal one and a Delta. Looks unlike any I've seen anywhere else. Once everything was put back together it ran like a dream. Very very very fine yarn is easy to make. 3 fat core bobbins are included in the kit.
New experiences this week include but not limited to:
Watching our vet "float" teeth on Bud and Sassie. No wonder he gets paid the big bucks. DH started the week with a cold and by Tuesday night had a burst ear drum. That's gotta hurt. Youngest daughter's computer bit it big time. Grrrr. Fairly new laptop and a fried mother board. Well, at least her hard drive is intact. That's about it for now. Time to spin.
